Making an impact through digital infrastructure and high-quality data

Interview with Julie Siezing, Senior Director of Data & Systems

How do you use your skills to create an impact that matters?

I’m a data nerd! I make an impact by creating great infrastructure and gathering high-quality data. Then, it is my job to present it so the business can draw tangible insights from it.

One example of my passion for data is when we created the digital infrastructure to manage all the sensor data gathered from our Danish parks.

What have you learned from working in Better Energy?

I’ve learned constructing an IT infrastructure from scratch comes with both expected and unexpected challenges.

The uncertainty of upcoming technologies compels us to strike a delicate balance between a currently viable solution and one that remains future-proof. We must work with the mindset of building with the understanding that modifications may be necessary as the company grows.

Reflecting on this journey has been an incredible experience, particularly in crafting sustainable solutions poised to scale seamlessly with the company's growth.

I have also learned much more about regeneration and biodiversity. It’s clear that we need to use our solar parks to solve more problems than just reducing CO2 if we want to make an impact.

What is special about Better Energy, in your opinion?

What also makes the company unique is the people. Before starting, several of my colleagues reached out to welcome me and help me feel comfortable. I appreciate the positive and collaborative atmosphere at the workplace, where teamwork is encouraged and we collaborate to solve problems.

I also really like that on top of aiming towards being sustainable, we are trying to implement initiatives to restore nature.

What would you tell others who considered joining Better Energy?

Join! You will have a significant influence on how we create solutions. There are opportunities for autonomy and flexibility. I guarantee you will work with many passionate and purpose-driven people who, as you should be, are adept at embracing change.
