Grid Integration Specialist

We are looking for a Grid Integration Specialist to make an impact that matters.

As Grid Integration Specialist, you will ensure the smooth implementation of the grid connection process resulting in signed grid connection agreements. The team should be distinguished by a high degree of collaboration, both within the team and with other colleagues. This is a newly created team within our Commercial department in Sweden. You will be reporting to the Lead Grid Integration Manager.

The team supports the rest of Better Energy on grid related matters in Sweden. The team works very closely with the rest of the Swedish Commercial team, where their focus is the development of our projects including land acquisition, environmental permits and other activities to make the project ready to build. There is a strong culture of working together to make the projects successful and team members are not afraid to take on tasks that are not usually in their normal scope.

How you will make a difference in Better Energy

Your primary focus will be securing grid connections of Better Energy’s energy parks in Sweden. Through dialogues with grid operators at distribution, regional and transmission level, you will find the best solutions for grid connection. We see you have an important role in this mission.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring grid connection of Better Energy’s Swedish projects, signing grid connection agreements.
  • Supporting the Swedish development team with questions about grid.
  • Building relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Grid connection opportunity evaluation – Grid Capacity, Connection point, and voltage level.
  • Managing the grid connection process from the start of the project until ready to build.
  • Dialogue with our construction and engineering teams on the interface between the grid and park.
  • Tariff optimisation and cost calculations.
  • Technical compliance (RfG and other project specific requirements).
  • Regulatory aspects of grid connections.
  • Updating the project pipeline with grid related costs and time estimates.

So, who are we looking for?

Together with the Swedish Lead Grid Integration Manager, there is an opportunity for the Grid Integration Specialist to shape the role according to their experiences and interests. Therefore, the ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or equivalent education or experiences.
  • Experience with grid connections, either from a grid operator, as a consultant or a customer such as wind, solar or a large consumer.
  • Fluency in both Swedish and English is a must.
  • You must hold a valid driving license.

Additionally, we find it important that you possess the following competencies:

  • Communication skills as there will be a lot of dialogue with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on your own as well as in a group.
  • Understanding of grid planning and dimensioning of electricity grids.
  • Knowledge of the Swedish electricity grid and grid operators.
  • Experience in the technical aspects of grid connections, for instance design and construction of substations, power lines.
  • Understanding of relevant regulations such as RfG, EIFS 2018:2 and others.
