Legal Specialist for Project Origination team

Do you have practical or theoretical knowledge within the legal fields of real estate and project development? We are looking for a Legal Specialist for the Project Origination team to make an impact that matters.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth company with a unique business model in a workplace where you can truly make a difference. We are currently 500+ employees across 31 different nationalities and counting, and we are looking for a Legal Specialist for Project Origination team in Copenhagen.

We’re not hired. We join.

You will be a part of a dynamic project development team consisting of skilled specialists of different backgrounds relating to project development matters – including land surveyors, business developers and lawyers, all working in sync in the Project Origination team of Better Energy’s Danish development branch.

You will be reporting to the Senior Director of Project Origination.

How you will make a difference in Better Energy

As our new team member, you will join the Project Origination team within Better Energy’s Danish development group, totaling around 50 employees. You will work in a cross-specialised team consisting of 8 different specialists.

We are characterised by easy and quick ways of communication, giving you a basis for influencing how you solve your tasks to the best of your abilities. We are focused, driven and deliver with high standards, but we do so with a smile and put a lot of value into being collegial and approachable – with each other and the rest of the organisation as well.

We offer an excellent opportunity for professional and personal development together with like-minded, friendly, and talented colleagues who prioritise delivering the best results while remembering to share a good laugh.

Your primary tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, negotiating, and executing purchase and lease agreements on Danish land to establish land rights for the development of energy parks across Denmark.
  • Providing advice on other aspects of real estate law, including easements, agricultural commercial leases, land registry matters as well as tax and agricultural matters relating to real estate.

So, who are we looking for?

You will preferably have a few years of legal working experience within real estate, project development or similar industries, and have a theoretical and practical knowledge of real estate law.

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Graduate with a Danish Master’s in Law (cand.jur.) or similar (cand.merc.jur. etc.)
  • Practical or theoretical knowledge of Danish real estate law, including transactions and lease agreements
  • Knowledge of municipal planning, environmental law and agricultural law are helpful supplements, but not requirements.

While Better Energy is an international company with English being the internal business language, your primary working language will be Danish.

Additionally, we find it important that you possess the following competencies:

  • Communication – being able to convey specialised legal knowledge in simple, concise and effective ways to both colleagues and external parties is vital
  • Adaptability – both the energy markets and Better Energy are both rapidly evolving, and being adaptable is a key to moving forward
  • Curiosity – having an open mind and being open to learning new things are both important to get the most out of working in a cross-functional development team and making your legal knowledge actionable to colleagues and counterparts

When joining Better Energy, you must be ready to drive change and make an impact that matters. You share our drive and commitment, and you are enthusiastic about joining a company with a broad professional foundation where we collaborate across departments and professional backgrounds. Like us, you are passionate about your work, and you share our vision of engineering a sustainable future.

This is, of course, a wish list from our side. If you do not match every criterion, please do not be discouraged from applying. Let us know why we would be a great fit and what you uniquely can bring to the table.

Our promise to you

Working at Better Energy should be inspiring, fun and guided by purpose. We ensure this by hiring great people from a wide variety of backgrounds and continuously developing our employee handbook and benefits scheme.
