Legal Specialist for Project Management team

Do you have practical or theoretical knowledge within the legal fields of real estate and project development? We are looking for a Legal Specialist for the Project Management team to make an impact that matters.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth company with a unique business model in a workplace where you can truly make a difference. We are currently 500+ employees across 31 different nationalities and counting, and we are looking for a Legal Specialist to join our Project Management team in Copenhagen.

We’re not hired. We join.

You will be a part of a dynamic Project development team consisting of skilled specialists from various backgrounds relevant to project development, including land surveyors, business developers, and lawyers, all working in sync in the Project Management team of Better Energy’s Danish development branch.

You will be reporting to the Senior Director of Project Management.

How you will make a difference in Better Energy

We are characterised by easy and quick ways of communication, giving you a basis for influencing how you solve your tasks to the best of your abilities. We are focused, driven and deliver with high standards, but we do so with a smile and put a lot of value into being collegial and approachable – with each other and the rest of the organisation as well.

We offer an excellent opportunity for professional and personal development together with like-minded, friendly, and talented colleagues who prioritise delivering the best results while remembering to share a good laugh.

Your primary tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the execution of purchase and lease agreements within the project portfolio
  • Drafting and negotiating addenda for purchase and lease agreements.
  • Providing legal support for contract works related to project development and execution.
  • Collaborating closely with our project managers to ensure timely project execution.
  • Supporting and facilitating due diligence processes.
  • Offering advice on various aspects of real estate law, including easements, agricultural commercial leases, land registry matters, as well as tax and agricultural matters relating to real estate.

So, who are we looking for?

You should ideally have several years of legal work experience in real estate, project development or related industries, along with theoretical and practical knowledge of real estate law.

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Danish master’s degree in law (cand.jur.) or equivalent (cand.merc.jur., etc.).
  • Have practical or theoretical knowledge of Danish real estate law, including transactions and lease agreements.
  • Possess practical knowledge of due diligence processes.
  • Demonstrate experience in communication and negotiation with external parties.
  • While not mandatory, familiarity with municipal planning, environmental law, and agricultural law would be advantageous.

Although Better Energy operates as an international company with English as the internal business language, Danish will be your primary working language.

Additionally, we find it important that you possess the following competencies:

  • Communication: The ability to convey specialised legal knowledge clearly and effectively to both colleagues and external parties is crucial.
  • Adaptability: Given the rapid evolution of both the energy markets and Better Energy itself, adaptability is essential for progress.
  • Curiosity: Maintaining an open mind and willingness to learn new concepts are vital for maximising productivity within a cross-functional development team and making legal knowledge actionable to colleagues and counterparts.

When joining Better Energy, you must be ready to drive change and make an impact that matters. You share our drive and commitment, and you are enthusiastic about joining a company with a broad professional foundation where we collaborate across departments and professional backgrounds. Like us, you are passionate about your work, and you share our vision of engineering a sustainable future.

Our promise to you

Working at Better Energy should be inspiring, fun, and guided by purpose. We ensure this by hiring great people from a wide variety of backgrounds and continuously developing our employee handbook and benefits scheme.
